Experience the power of oral tradition in an intimate gathering that celebrates Alaska Native culture with Iñupiaq storyteller James Dommek, Jr. Through traditional stories told in a contemporary way, Dommek shares humorous insights into Iñupiaq culture, history, and ways of knowing passed down through generations.

About the Speaker
James Dommek, Jr. is Iñupiaq and born and raised in Kotzebue, AK. He is the great-grandson of one of the last great Iñupiaq storytellers, Palangun (Paul Monroe). He co-wrote, narrated and scored the New York Times Best Selling audiobook, “Midnight Sun,” as well as “Alaska is the Center of the Universe.” James also is the creator/executive producer of the documentary Blood & Myth. He currently resides in Anchorage, AK.
