Anchorage Museum policies call for periodic review and evaluation of collections. While the collections are developed with the good faith to retain items for an indefinite time period, these periodic reviews can identify items that no longer meet current collection plans, are not related to the museum mission, or are duplicative of other items in the collection. Please see notices below for updates to the collection.
TITLE ACQUISITIONS
The Anchorage Museum is in the process of acquiring legal title to undocumented property found in the collection. These objects were found during inventories of the collection with no Museum accession number or identification of their immediate owners. The Anchorage Museum would like to return the objects listed here to their rightful owner or gain proper title.
NOTICE OF DEACCESSION
Deaccessions from the Anchorage Museum collections are guided by well-defined deaccession policies and procedures approved by the Anchorage Museum Board of Trustees under the guidelines of the Association of Art Museum Directors. The process involves review by both internal and external committees and board of the Museum. The listed artworks listed in this notice were deaccessioned in 2021 by the Anchorage Museum.
