This event has ended. It was scheduled for 2/20/2025.

Seed Lab, 111 West 6th Avenue Anchorage
Reconnecting Fairview Community Tour

Join the Reconnecting Fairview project team to learn about the histories of Fairview, the amazing people and places that exist in the East Downtown area, and efforts to revitalize the neighborhood with a community-led Fairview Greenway project. The tour will be joined by 4th year architecture students from the University of Texas at Arlington, doing field work, as they generate speculative concepts for community food spaces, ecotourism and innovation hubs, and health and wellness spaces in Fairview. During the tour participants will be invited to help document spaces while sharing their perspectives and ideas.

Free to attend, Registration Required.

The event will include lunch at the Seed Lab prior to embarking on the Route #11 People Mover bus (fare included with registration). The People Mover will serve as transportation for participants to and from key locations and return visitors to the Seed Lab at the end.

This tour is part of the ongoing collaborative research and design-oriented programs of Anchorage Design Week and the Reconnecting Fairview project, seeking to identify opportunities and challenges for reinvestment and potential impacts of the proposed Seward Highway Connection by Alaska Department of Transportation (AKDOT). The PEL is the official AK DOT process that helps to build a public vision and revise proposed alternatives to best reconnect the neighborhood while serving as functional infrastructure.

This event is made possible with support by NeighborWorks Alaska and the Anchorage Museum in collaboration with AARP, the Anchorage Park Foundation, the Fairview Community Council, and the Alaska Chapter ASLA.
