Teen Climate Communicators is an annual Anchorage Museum teen program where high school students explore our changing climate through conversation, collaboration, and art. Meeting weekly with museum staff and guest speakers, participants reflect on their experiences and consider how these changes shape their lives and communities.
This year’s cohort worked through the 7 R’s of sustainability—rethink, refuse, reduce, reuse, repair, repurpose, recycle—using them as a guide for both creative practice and everyday action.
The R’s We Revolve Around brings together their work in zines, darning, prints, poetry, and journal entries. These pieces offer insight into how some young people are thinking about climate, care, and responsibility, and invite visitors to consider what the 7 R’s might look like in their own lives.
All content and label text were created by the teens.
Featured artists: Crystal Wellington, Jasper Loyd Jackson, Kimberly Aponte, Makenna Offrink, Olivia Okeahialam, Sophia Johnson, Sylvie Wailand, Ta’Cori Shillingford, and Violet Bunag.
