Growing potatoes in a potato barrel not only makes sense and is easy to maintain and harvest, but it reuses a resource found in the community. Using a barrel, you’ll create a vertical garden for your potato crop that uses very little yard space. In this workshop produced in partnership with the Tool Library @ Seed Lab, you’ll watch a guided demonstration and then set to work on cutting and shaping your own barrel to take home. You’ll be planting and layering potatoes this summer in no time, and harvest is easy without the digging.
Workshop will require Tool Library membership (for adults 18+); waiver can be signed on-site. Tools and protective equipment provided. A salvaged, food grade barrel is provided for each household. You are welcome to bring any additional barrels you want to work on as well. Registration required. Free. Potatoes not included.
