MUSE Restaurant
Cold War Cakes and Cocktails

Join Alaska food writer and recipe developer Julia O’Malley for an exploration of Cold War food technology, Alaska’s foodways and feminism, followed by a dessert mingle featuring period music, Cold War-era cocktails and samples of vintage cake-mix cakes inspired by Alaska women’s club and church cookbook recipes from the ‘70s and ‘80s. Cake flavors include Better than Tom Selleck, Strawberries and Champagne, Harvey Wallbanger, and Watergate.

A recipe mini-zine, illustrated by Rejoy Armamento, comes with the price of admission. Taste samples of four cakes and sip a cocktail of your choosing (non-alcoholic cocktail available); included in admission.

An optional tour of Cold War to the Cosmos Exhibition precedes the program at 5 p.m., hosted by Anchorage Museum staff Adam Baldwin. Festive mid-century/'70s dress encouraged. 21+ w/ ID. $50 per person. Registration required.
