Experience stories of the North through a different kind of book club, one where the setting is the gallery itself. The Anchorage Museum Book Club meets quarterly to read and reflect on books that deepen our understanding of the Circumpolar North. Each selection connects to museum exhibitions or collections, and each discussion takes place in the gallery most aligned with the book’s themes.
This month’s selection is “Sivulliq: Ancestor” by Lily Tuzroyluke, a historical fiction novel that tells the story of an Iñupiaq mother’s journey to rescue her daughter from Yankee whalers. This public program is open to anyone; no need to attend every session, just register for the dates that interest you. While we don’t serve snacks (we’re in the galleries), each discussion includes a mini tour of related objects led by museum staff.
Recommended for adults. Included with admission; registration required.
