In Context: Formline Raven’s Head with Watercolor Pencils

The formline tradition spans the Alaskan Southeast, all the way into Canada and the Northwestern United States. Its various shapes and line thicknesses are found in Lingít crests, clan houses, regalia and jewelry, as well as on everyday items by Indigenous culture bearers and artists alike. Learn about the Tlingit formline tradition with Ashley Young and create a raven’s head design with watercolor pencil.

For grades 4-8. Free; registration required.
