Pass the Mic Closing Celebration: Open Mic Night
6:15 - 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, Third Floor, Pass the Mic Main Stage
After 11 months of Alaska music appreciation, discovery and discussion, Pass the Mic will close — but not before one more party. Musicians and poets of all stripes are invited to take the Main Stage for an Open Mic Night to remember. Sign up in person beginning at 6 p.m. until we run out of time. Performers will have 2 songs, or 10 minutes to share their craft.

First Friday: Zine Workshop with the Anchorage Public Library
6 - 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, Discovery Center, Art Lab
The Anchorage Museum and the Anchorage Public Library co-host a zine workshop in celebration of Library Card Sign-Up Month. Sign up for a library card, learn about library services, and make your own zine to take home during this drop-in workshop. Open to all ages, all children must be accompanied by an adult.

Thomas Planetarium - Rapid Space Shorts
6:30 p.m., 7 p.m., 7:30 p.m., 8 p.m., 8:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, Thomas Planetarium
These quick planetarium experiences range from constellation tours of the night sky and cruising around the solar system to learning about light and the aurora borealis. Free; ticket required and available at the front desk after 6 p.m.
