Join us for an overview of common, interesting and/or edible mushrooms from Southcentral Alaska and learn how to identify them. This presentation will cover the basics of mushroom identification, how to properly prepare them for the table, and precautions for eating mushrooms from the wild. Participants are encouraged to bring in mushrooms from their yards or the woods for discussion and ID. Free; registration requested.
About the Speaker
Kate Mohatt is the founder of the Turnagain Arm Mycological Society and the Girdwood Fungus Fair, and co-author of Mushrooms of Alaska Field Guide and Mushrooms of National Forests in Alaska. She is a forest ecologist for the Chugach National Forest, and has been studying mushrooms in Alaska for over 20 years.
