Repair & Reuse: Darning Socks and Sweaters

Give well-loved knitwear a longer life. Bring clothing with holes or thin spots and learn the basics of darning, Swiss darning and hand mending. Participants will learn to identify basic stitches and come to understand their significance for knitted garment repair.

Free; registration required. Doors open at 6 p.m., guided demonstration at 6:30. Registration required.

“Repair & Reuse” is a series based on a culture of repair, working to transform our culture into one that repairs more readily than it purchases, to create a more sustainable community. Workshops on mending, repairing outdoor gear, upcycling and object fixing, along with the sharing of how-to skillsets, help remind all of us that low-cost repairs help the climate.
