Repair & Reuse: Zippered Bags + Machine Sewing 101

Learn how to do basic stitches on a sewing machine. Practice your new skill by making a reusable cloth bag, with or without a zipper. Have a bag you need to fix? Feel free to bring that as well. This class focuses on sewing machines; bring your own from home or share one of the four machines provided. Materials provided. Free; registration required. Doors open at 6; guided demonstration at 6:30.

This workshop series is based on a culture of repair, working to transform our culture into one that repairs more readily than it purchases, to create a more sustainable community. Workshops on mending, repairing outdoor gear, upcycling, and fixing objects, along with sharing how-to skills, remind us that low-cost repairs help the climate.

Upcoming workshops include:
Jan. 13: Repairing base layers
Feb. 10: Sewing Machine 101 (applying patches and sewing curves)
