Adult Art Class: Landscape Painting with David Rosenthal

In conjunction with the exhibition Painting at the End of the Ice Age, artist David Rosenthal will teach exercises designed to illuminate the essential concepts and elements of landscape painting to create dynamic space, light, and colors. This class will explore the theory and fundamentals of landscape painting through the media of quick-drying watercolors and short drawing exercises. Whether interested in realism, representational, or abstract painting, these foundational concepts will prove valuable to participants at all ability levels.

Beginners are welcome, while returning students of David’s previous classes will receive more advanced guidance and exercises that build on previous concepts. Subject matter will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring a photo of a simple landscape to work from during the session.

Registration includes all tools and materials (paint, brushes, paper, etc.). The fee is $40. For ages 16+ (mature 14+ students welcome with parent or guardian). Questions? Contact clindquist@anchoragemuseum.org.
