During this two-day fish skin leather-making class, participants will learn to make salmon fish skin leather using the fat and oil tanning method. All salmon skin, natural dyes and tanning supplies are provided by the instructor.
This is a two-day workshop; you must be able to attend both days to register.
$30 material fee. Scholarships available for those who need it, email programs@anchoragemuseum.org for scholarships.

About your Instructor
Karen Denise McIntyre is a Yup’ik fish skin artist and teacher from the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta region. Karen uses fish skin leader to make baskets, bags and jewelry through her business, Creative Native. She has taught workshops around Alaska. She notes, "teaching my own people-Alaska Native people-brings me the greatest joy and the greatest satisfaction. It's like a spiritual connection with the fish, the land, our ancestors and each other."
