About the Artist
Born in Juneau, Alaska and based in Los Angeles and Santa Fe, Nizhonniya Austin (Diné and Tlingit) illuminates the potentialities and complexities of working as a Native artist within the global context of the contemporary art world, through painting, performance, and professional acting. Austin received her degree at Institute of American Indian Arts (Santa Fe, US) in 2020. She is known for her roles in Inheritance (2017) and The Curse (2023) and has exhibited her work at Tara Downs, Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art, Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, and Bates College Museum of Art, among others.
