Exhibition Opening: Painting at the End Of The Ice Age

Cordova-based artist David Rosenthal will be on the floor to introduce Painting at the End of the Ice Age. Rosenthal’s paintings depict retreating glacial ice and dramatic post-glacial landscapes observed during his 45-year painting career, a period coinciding with the final years of our current geologic Ice Age. Works are paired with text-based reflections from the artist as well as geologists, oceanographers, biologists, and self-taught naturalists.

At 6:15 p.m. Rosenthal will give a 45-minute presentation in the Smithsonian Annex space near the exhibition, and from 7:30 p.m. he will be available in the Arctic Gallery to speak with visitors.
