Urban Harvest: Rose Hips for Winter Health

Cultivated or wild, roses are one of the easiest and most beloved herbs to safely identify and forage. Explore the uses as well as the medicinal and nutritional value of every part of roses, from the roots to the fruits. Taught by Mary-Ellen Garner of Common Root, this class will focus on uses and remedies of rose hips, which surpass citrus in their vitamin C content and can be preserved in a variety of ways to keep you healthy all winter long. Participants will taste and learn how to process rose hips for tea, syrups, oxymels (vinegar & honey extraction) and make some treats to take home. $10 materials fee. Registration required.

Check out the culinary tools on offer in the Tool Library and finish off your fall harvest with some rose hip treats.
