Join us in the Thomas Planetarium for a presentation about our closest star, the Sun. Meet Tom Mangelsdorf, a NASA Solar System Ambassador, cofounder of the Southcentral Alaska Astronomical Society and member of the CV-Helios Network. For over 40 years, Tom has been pointing telescopes at the night sky, but it was the Venus transit of 2012 that sparked an interest in the sun.
In this presentation, discover the complex interactions that cause space weather and the aurora, and learn how to identify and analyze sunspots.
Recommended for ages 10 and up.
Open to all members; registration required.
