In-Person Event

On Dec. 18, 1971, the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) was signed into law by President Richard M. Nixon. In this video, we look back on the legacy of that bill by examining the set of factors that led to its passage. A confluence of events 50 years ago created a unique set of circumstances, without which Alaska would be a very different state. This historical documentary examines the relationships between those who were present (or their children) during the lead up to ANCSA’s passage. A panel discussion will follow. Free. Registration is recommended. Please use the 7th Ave. entrance.
