
Join us for a conversation with artists Alanna DeRocchi, Acacia Johnson and Young Kim as they discuss their work in the 2025 Alaska Triennial exhibition. Following each artist’s talk there will be a Q&A with the audience. Free, registration recommended but not required.
About the artists
Alanna DeRocchi is a ceramicist based in Anchorage. She is a Term Assistant Professor of Ceramics and Studio Technician at UAA. She received a BFA from Western Illinois University and an MFA from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University.
Acacia Johnson is a photographer, writer, and 2023 National Geographic Explorer based in Anchorage, Alaska. Drawn to painterly light and otherworldly landscapes, her work has focused on the environment, conservation, and the connections between people and place. She has also made over fifty expeditions to the Arctic and Antarctica as a photographer and a guide—an effort to inspire wonder and compassion for these remote regions during rapid change.
Young Kim was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska, where he currently resides. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Public Communications from the University of Alaska Anchorage and recently earned a Master of Fine Arts in Photography from the Hartford Art School at the University of Hartford. He currently owns and operates the creative space The Stoop.
