Gather along Fish Creek for a community celebration marking the unveiling of the new Fish Creek Plaza and Indigenous Place Name sign. The Dena’ina name for Fish Creek is Ch’atanaltsegh, meaning “yellow water comes out.”

The evening begins at Lyn Ary Park with music, art and a festive procession along the Fish Creek Trail to the new plaza (0.7 miles). A dedication, cultural presentations and blessing will follow, including performances, food and community activities.

Part of the Indigenous Place Names Movement, the celebration centers Indigenous language, culture, art and the connections between people and place.
