As a public facility, the Anchorage Museum meets the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements, as outlined by the United States Access Board. Exhibitions within gallery spaces are designed to meet these requirements. Visitors are encouraged to contact the Anchorage Museum before their visit if they have questions or desire specific accommodations. Visitors may also provide feedback on their experience.

    Arriving

We recommend dropping off and picking up visitors with special needs using the loading/unloading lane on 7th Avenue, between A and C Streets. Visitors can use the ramp to reach our main entrance, which faces C Street and is equipped with automatic doors.

Parking is available on nearby streets and paid parking lots. Public parking is available in the museum’s heated and secured underground garage on weekends and evenings. Accessible parking is always available in the museum’s parking garage. Parking is on a first-come, first-served basis.

The garage is accessed from 7th Avenue, between A and C Streets. Once parked, take the elevator to the ground floor where security will escort you through the museum to the main lobby.

    Museum parking garage rates:

    • 0-2 hours $5
    • 2-4 hours $8
    • 4-6 hours $12
    • 6-10 hours $15

    Restrooms

The museum has accessible restrooms and family restrooms on levels 1-4.

    Galleries

Galleries are wheelchair accessible, and elevators are available for visitors who cannot use stairs. Manual wheelchairs are located by the lockers near the front desk, and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Some galleries include tactile elements. For more information or to arrange a tactile and/or verbal description tour, email access@anchoragemuseum.org at least two weeks in advance.

To arrange sign language interpretation for scheduled tours or programs, email access@anchoragemuseum.org at least two weeks in advance.
