Resurrection Bay Boat Tour

11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12
Seward Boat Harbor, 1300 4th Ave., Seward, AK

Take Arctic Marine Science: Sikuliaq to Shore beyond the galleries and onto the water during a special six-hour cruise of Resurrection Bay with marine scientists.

The exhibition invites visitors into the world of marine research, from the tools scientists use to study the ocean to the interconnected systems they are working to understand.

This day on Resurrection Bay offers an opportunity to experience those ideas in a different setting. Spend time with oceanographers and marine biologists, hear about their research in Alaska’s ocean waters, ask questions and experience a marine environment through the perspective of people who study it closely.

You don’t need to be a marine scientist or even a science enthusiast to come away with a deeper appreciation of the experience. For anyone curious about Alaska’s waters and the forces that shape them, the cruise, provided by Major Marine Tours, offers a chance to spend time on Resurrection Bay, look more closely at a place you may already know and consider what can be learned through careful observation and research.

Designed as an extension of Arctic Marine Science: Sikuliaq to Shore, this special program gives Museum members and the public an opportunity to connect ideas explored in the exhibition with time spent on the water.

A deli lunch is included.
