Museum After Dark: reFASHIONED

6 to 10 p.m. Thursday, June 11 Anchorage Museum

Join us for an unforgettable evening where fashion meets climate action at the Anchorage Museum, reFASHIONED. Try your hand in carnival games and engage with Museum staff and community partners while learning about the Museum’s sustainability goals both large and small. Watch the runway as local designers who’ve turned yesterday’s trash into wearable runway art amaze and inspire. Groove to live music, enjoy small bites and drinks, and come dressed in your own upcycled outfit for a chance to win prizes. All proceeds from this event will benefit the Anchorage Museum’s climate and sustainability initiatives.

The Anchorage Museum is seeking local designers, artists, and creatives to transform discarded materials into stunning runway looks. Be it plastic ballgowns or newspaper tracksuits, we need you to turn trash into haute garbage couture!

Trashion Show Workshops will serve as a monthly drop-in opportunity for participants to share ideas, swap supplies, see demonstrations, and work on their trashion projects in a communal environment. Each session will be hosted by a community partner committed to sustainability initiatives.

Donate Materials

The museum is seeking donations of supplies that would otherwise go in the landfill for our fashion workshops. These could include: Fashion fabrics (1 yard or more), Interfacing, Beads, rhinestones, and beading notions, Ribbon and trim (1 yard or more), Soda tabs and other interesting items that may enhance an outfit. Please note that we cannot accept donation with glitter on them.
