reFASHIONED: A Night of Upcycled Style and Sustainability

6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, June 11, at the Anchorage Museum

Celebrate creativity, climate care, and community at reFASHIONED, an evening where fashion meets purpose. Watch as local designers transform discarded materials into wearable works of art on the runway. Try your hand at playful games, connect with museum staff and community partners, and learn how small actions contribute to big sustainability goals. Enjoy live music, light bites, and drinks in a lively atmosphere that welcomes all ages. Dress in your own upcycled look for a chance to win prizes.

Proceeds from this event support the Anchorage Museum’s climate and sustainability initiatives, helping us steward a more resilient future together.

Designers Wanted

The Anchorage Museum is seeking local designers, artists, and creatives to transform discarded materials into runway looks. Whether it's plastic ballgowns or newspaper tracksuits, this is your chance to turn trash into haute couture.

Trashion Show Workshops are monthly drop-in sessions where participants share ideas, swap supplies, watch demonstrations, and work on their trashion projects in a communal environment. Each session is hosted by a community partner committed to sustainability initiatives.

Donate Materials

The museum is seeking donations of supplies that would otherwise go in the landfill for our fashion workshops. These could include: Fashion fabrics (one yard or more), interfacing, beads, rhinestones, and beading notions; ribbon and trim (one yard or more); Soda tabs; and other items that may enhance an outfit. Please note that we cannot accept donations with glitter.
