The Alaska Biennial showcases the work of contemporary Alaskan artists and connects the narrative of our place to broader global narratives. The Anchorage Museum’s juried exhibitions (All-Alaska Juried Exhibition and Earth, Fire & Fibre) began more than 30 years ago to encourage the creation of new works by Alaska artists in all media and merged into the All-Alaska Biennial. A guest juror works with the Museum for each exhibition. In 2020, we introduce the Alaska Biennial, reflecting the place-based intent of this exhibition series.
In 2020, the Biennial will include outdoor installations in addition to a juried selection of works for Museum galleries.
The open call is not yet active. Check back here in the fall of 2019 for updates on submission.
