Día del Sol is a weekend festival that celebrates the people and culture of Mexico and Alaska-Mexico connections. This all-ages, inclusive festival features Spanish language films, Latino music and food, family activities, conversations and presentations by artists from Mexico, California and Alaska. Día del Sol is one of the many programs associated with the museum’s Unsettled exhibition, which reveals a super-region referred to as the Greater West, a geographic area that stretches from Alaska to Patagonia and from Australia to the American West. Many Mexican artists are featured in the exhibition, which is on third and fourth floors of the museum’s west wing.
