Cultural Arts: Woodcarving

Investigate woodcarving tools and techniques used in Alaska Native cultures and develop carving skills with grades 6-12. Close look at examples of woodcarving from the Anchorage Museum collection, learn from Indigenous knowledge holders through online resources and suggested classroom visits, and complete a carving project.

We would like to express our gratitude to Aaron Leggett and John Hagen for sharing their time and knowledge to refine this curriculum unit. Thank you for your guidance and support.
