Anchorage Museum 2019 Summer Camp Schedule
From robotics and space to art, exploration and more, the Anchorage Museum has a camp topic to suit nearly every 7- to 12-year-old’s interest. Designed to foster imagination and experimentation in art, science and technology, campers learn, play and create through exploring museum objects and resources under the guidance of trained educators.
Weeklong sessions run Monday through Friday June 3–28 and July 8–19. Camp hours are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with drop-off as early as 8 a.m. and pick-up as late as 4 p.m. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call 907-929-9276 for more information.
Explore It: Alaskans and Salmon
Discover the connections between the people and salmon that call Alaska home. Learn about the science of salmon and how humans interact with this species throughout its complex life cycle. Share stories and traditions of how you and your family celebrate salmon and explore new ways to experience this anadromous fish through art, tools and food. $300, members receive a 10 percent discount.

Robot It: Alaska
Discover how robots help solve problems that affect Alaska and the North. Climate change, traversing snowy terrain, withstanding freezing temperatures—many aspects of life in Alaska can be improved with the help of robots. Campers explore museum exhibitions, discuss complex issues, then creatively design robotic solutions. Campers program and build with LEGO MINDSTORMS (no experience necessary). $300, members receive a 10 percent discount.

Create it: It's All material
Discover the origins of different art mediums such as paint, clay and wood while examining them through artistic and scientific processes. Investigate how artists use these materials in museum artworks. With inspiration from museum exhibitions, including What Why How We Eat, campers transform natural elements to create artworks of their own. $300, members receive a 10 percent discount.

Explore It: Space
Explore the Universe through S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) projects. Focusing on one of these disciplines each day, campers incorporate exploratory activities, including designing a robotic spacecraft, creating tessellated galaxy art and learning about everything from time and space to astronaut cuisine. $300, members receive a 10 percent discount.

Create it: Your Own Museum
What does it take to create a museum exhibition? Learn from museum professionals about what happens behind-the-scenes in a museum, from caring for collections to designing exhibits. Work as a team to curate an exhibition prototype from start to finish with inspiration from two current exhibits: What Why How We Eat and Death in the Ice. Choose a theme, create artwork and design creative marketing for the exhibition. $300, members receive a 10 percent discount.

Explore It: Human Journeys
Uncover the past, present and future of exploration. Dive into historic quests like Sir John Franklin’s snowy search for a Northwest Passage and Neil Armstrong’s first steps on the moon. Practice the skills required for a successful mission and design an expedition to another planet. $300, members receive a 10 percent discount.
