Embrace the power of making in this one-day makers workshop. Explore how to use a variety of tools and techniques to creatively transform textiles while exploring museum exhibitions and collections. Youth ages 7 to 12 will focus on different leather work and stitching techniques.

Explore the intersection of art, culture, history and science at the museum by embracing your knack for a good hack. Hacking—the imaginative (re)use of everyday things in unfamiliar ways—will challenge 7 to 12-year-olds to think outside the box.

Experience our solar system and beyond in the Discovery Center, invent an alien creature in Spark!Lab, and find out how the line between science and science fiction is always moving with new technologies and discoveries. See how people continue to be fascinated by what the future or alternate realities might hold in The Art of Fandom exhibition, and create tales of other worldly adventure in this day-long workshop for youth ages 7 to 12.

Alaska’s Iditarod season is here! This one-day workshop for kids ages 7 to 12 explores the history and science of the Iditarod. Prepare an Iditarod experience, visit the Alaska exhibition for inspiration to create a sled, and discover what it takes to survive the "Last Great Race on Earth®.”

Ages 7 to 12

Enhance your science skills by spending a day looking, asking and experimenting while collecting real data and contributing to Alaska research in this full-day workshop for youth ages 7 to 12. Explore weather, environmental and other monitoring projects that can be done at the museum and in your own backyard, so you can be a scientist not just for a day, but every day.

Take inspiration from The Art of Fandom exhibition, animals and historical objects, then let your imagination take flight. Choose special powers, create a cape, and design an alter-ego in this day-long workshop dedicated to what it means to be a superhero for youth ages 7 to 12.
