Curated by Anchorage Museum educators, Community Supported Education Boxes put educational resources in your hands, engaging your senses, inspiring creativity and highlighting community partners.
Sign up for the Anchorage Museum Community Supported Education (CSE) project to receive thoughtfully curated activities and educational resources boxes. Each CSE box includes engaging resources and activities that allow you to create an Anchorage Museum experience in your home. Explore themes related to Alaska and the North through hands-on making, experiments, community profiles and readings.
The inaugural box examines the theme “land” through the physical processes and lifeways that shape Alaska’s landscape. Each box includes resources to stimulate all five senses. Sign up and receive details on when and where to it up will be included in the confirmation email.
Select the CSE that is right for you with our customized age brackets: toddlers, youth or adult. Registration required. $25 per box, museum members receive a 10% discount.
Connect to the land by examining the distinctive qualities both below and above the surface. Get to know soil characteristics through a hands-on soil profile activity. Learn how Anchorage Community Land Trust partners with local farmers connecting to the land to grow food. Youth Box (SOLD OUT)
Investigate what shapes Northern landscapes with hands-on activities. Build a volcano, model how glaciers carve land, and create the sounds of a landscape. Practice observation skills and learn how one Anchorage family grows food.
Activities designed for youth in 4th-8th grades, but can be adapted for younger children with adult assistance.
Investigate ideas of Alaska land with your young learner through interactive lesson plans. Engage all five senses with interdisciplinary activities, resources for land adventures and a book about fall in Alaska.
