    Anchorage Museum Summer Camps at Home

    Although the museum is open, for summer camps are being offered online. We invite you to experience the Anchorage Museum "Summer Camps at Home" this year. Sign up for week-long programs that encourage kids to think about art, science, history and culture with daily virtual meetings and hands-on, screen-free activities. All camp packages come with a designated activity kit that can be picked up prior to the camp week. Adult assistance needed for some activities and may be required for younger children.

    Anchorage Museum Summer Camp at Home Virtual Showcase

    ENROLLMENT OPEN CAMPS

    Create It: Art of the North at Home

    August 3-7, 2020

    Designed for imaginative, curious youth ages 10-15, this virtual camp explores artistic self-expression and skills through art discussions and art making with museum staff and Alaska artists. Using inspiration from artworks in the Anchorage Museum collection, campers create using a variety of mediums, including fiber, paper and leather with guest artists Amy Meissner, Susan Joy Share and Mikey Huff. Daily virtual meeting attendance is required. Minimal adult assistance necessary (younger children may require more adult assistance with technical directions).  

    Ages: 10-15

    Price: $20,10% discount for members, thanks to the generous support from the Alaska State Council of the Arts.

    Register by Wednesday, July 29 for materials pick-up 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, July 31.

    Explore It: Science Passport at Home

    June 15-19, 2020

    Campers make observations, ask questions and perform experiments as they explore areas in and around their home through a scientific lens. Identify birds and trees, experiment with water and build a tall tower with household objects while completing the museum’s Science Passport Home Edition throughout the week. Some adult assistance necessary.

    Ages: 7-12

    Price: $45, ($20 camp + $25 materials fee), 10% off for members

    Register by Thursday, June 11 for materials pick-up from the museum from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, June 12

    Create It: CoLab at Home

    June 22-26, 2020

    Engage your creative side and learn new skills with daily, hands-on making projects. Try embroidery, make a paper flower bouquet and engage in several other making activities using easy, step-by-step guides. Some adult assistance necessary.

    Ages: 7-12

    Price: $60, ($20 camp + $40 materials fee), 10% off for members

    Create It: Museum at Home

    July 6-10, 2020

    Tell your unique story through a museum exhibition. Showcase a special object, make art to include, and build a model of the exhibit.  Campers learn how museums turn ideas into finished exhibitions and share their work with each other.  Minimal adult assistance necessary.  

    Ages: 7-12

    Price: $45, ($20 camp + $25 materials fee), 10% off for members

    Register by Tuesday, June 30 for pick up on Wednesday, July 1 at the museum’s 7th Ave. entrance.

    Explore It: Moon to Mars at Home

    July 13-17, 2020

    Discover NASA’s newest space program. See what it takes to travel to and explore the Moon and Mars. Campers create spacecraft rovers, control telescopes to capture real images of the Moon and Mars, and access software to observe the night sky from anywhere on Earth. This camp includes a one-year subscription to the Anchorage Museum Astronomy Club that continues beyond camp and provides prompts and challenges to learn more about astronomy. Some adult assistance requested.

    Ages: 10+

    Price: $60, ($20 camp + $40 materials fee), 10% off for members

    Explore It: Crash, Wave, Boom at Home

    July 20-24, 2020

    Explore the science behind Alaska’s disasters, such as earthquakes, volcanos, tsunamis, avalanches along with climate change. Campers make models, conduct experiments, and apply the engineering design process by creating a natural disaster-proof structure prototype to keep humans safe and prepare for the unexpected. Some adult assistance necessary.

    Ages: 7-12

    Price: $45, ($20 camp + $25 materials fee), 10% off for members

    Register by Thursday, July 16 for materials pick-up from the museum from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, July 17
