Alaska Rocks at annual Bead Arts Gala
The state’s premier bead event returns to the Anchorage Museum. The Alaska Bead Society’s Annual Bead Arts Gala takes place 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 19 and noon to 5 p.m. Oct. 20.
Visitors can meet 50 bead artists from across Alaska and shop their exquisite beadwork and handmade glass beads. This year’s featured artist is Loey Stayden, owner of Alaska Rocks.
“I enjoy the challenge of trying to pair complementary rocks together, then incorporating them in a design that reveals their simplistic beauty yielding truly unique pieces,” Stayden said. “The fundamental beauty of the natural world is an endless source for my artistic expression.”
Other activities include glass bead-making demonstrations and a make-it, take-it table. Admission is free.
