Against a backdrop of twinkling lights and tinsel, find life-sized French dolls, carousel horses, Oaxacan carved animals, and an evergreen tree decorated with more than 100 dolls wearing costumes from around the world. Other exhibition highlights include a hand-painted wood Schoenhut Humpty Dumpty circus from the early 1900s.
Also in December, enjoy three Sunday afternoons of merry music, cookies and cider at the museum’s annual holiday concerts.
Dec. 6: Performers include Anchorage Concert Chorus and country duo Little Blue Suitcase. 2:15 to 4:30 p.m. Included with admission.
Dec. 13: Performers include Alaska Children’s Choir with Cantora Arctica. 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Free as part of Wells Fargo Free Day.
Dec. 20: Performers include cellist Cheyenne Brown. 2:15 to 4:30 p.m. Included with admission.
Winter hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, closed Monday. General admission is $8, $7 seniors/students/military, free for ages 17 and younger. Coming in spring 2010: The Imaginarium Discovery Center and the
