Conference brings Russian and U.S. experts on Beringia Region
August 30, 2006
The waters of the Bering Strait separate the continents of Asia and North America, but they do not divide the people, the resources or the heritage of "Beringia." The International Beringia Days 2006 Conference brings together specialists from Russia and the United States to explore the unique cultural and natural heritage shared by the countries in the Central Beringia region on Sept. 7 and 8 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The two-day public program is an annual event co-sponsored by the National Park Service and the Anchorage Museum. The conference includes in-depth scientific research and community-based popular studies. All sessions are free and open to the public. For more information, call the National Park Service at (907) 644-3601 or visit the Beringia Web site at www.nps.gov/akso/beringia.
