Based on my recent experience of quarantine due to COVID-19 in our future refuges, I figured we would need a place to exercise and think, a sort of meditative gym. Therefore, my project for Future Ready consists in a series of balance beams with engraved sentences (like for instance "Every single thing visible or invisible is interconnected like the threads of life") by Julia Butterfly Hill, the environmental activist who lived in a 180-foot-tall, 1500-year-old California redwood tree for 738 days between December 1997 and December 1999. This installation implies the urgency to change our perception on the environment in order to get ready for future changes.
