Nina Elder: It Will Not Be the Same, But It Might Be Beautiful
On view sunset - midnight through Jan. 31, Anchorage Museum Facade
A video projection titled It Will Not Be The Same, But It Might Be Beautiful by artist and researcher Nina Elder investigates change by focusing on objects that have been exhausted through use and transformed over time. The video component of this project, produced by Michael Conti, is a 3-channel installation centering around puzzle stones, rocks that have been shattered by rapid temperature shifts and retreating glaciers.
Human hands collect and try to fit together broken stones as if they are puzzle pieces from the landscape in this video that meditates on environmental change, wonder and resilience. On view sunset to midnight through Sunday, Jan. 31.
This work was made possible through the support of the Speranza Foundation and the National Performance Network.
