Davyd Betchkal is an acoustician and wilderness ranger who has worked with the National Park Service to document Alaska landscapes of solitude and quiet and their entwined history with human passage. Study using these records has revealed patterns across acoustic environments leading to general principles for their conservation. Betchkal's personal, creative works map small portions of natural and social systems.
