WALKING AWAY FROM THE WHALE

Although my upcoming solo exhibition of textile work, Inheritance: makers. memory. myth., is an exploration of emotional landscapes, I regularly look to other landscapes for filtering personal experiences. The North is an obvious lens for this, but so is parenting, with emotion forming its own crag and meadow. Last year, my young family hiked to a beached humpback whale lodged at the edge of Kincaid Park. Such encounters inform my creative work by reminding me of why we are where we are, and how to make the most of it. Read the full post here.
