Camera Obscura by Michael Conti
On view May 8 through June 30
As part of the Anchorage Museum’s Polar Lab, we invite artists to create interventions in museum galleries and public spaces through performances and temporary installations. With a nod to Anchorage’s beginnings as a tent city for railroad workers on Ship Creek, Alaska artist and photographer Michael Conti transforms a canvas tent into a camera obscura within the museum. Visitors may trace the projected images of the cityscape and Chugach Mountains using provided drawing materials. Also included is a series of screen prints of the Anchorage area landscape depicting different eras of its development.
