FIRST FLOOR GALLERIES NAMED IN HONOR OF PATRICIA B. WOLF

The Anchorage Museum honored the legacy of the late Patricia B. Wolf, who served the museum for 31 years, 20 as director, by naming its first-floor galleries after her during a private reception Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2021.

The museum grew during Wolf's tenure into one of Alaska's premiere cultural institutions. It expanded facilities and mission, quadrupled collections, hosted the first regional office of the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of Natural History Arctic Studies Center, and organized award-winning exhibitions of Alaska arts and culture. Her leadership was characterized by a strong sense of community, and she encouraged the creation of many exhibitions of Alaska materials and brought world-class exhibitions to Anchorage. The Patricia B. Wolf Family Galleries reflect Wolf’s passion for art, artists and the museum, and her wish that the Anchorage Museum remains a place for families to share experiences together. Wolf retired in 2007. She died in 2019.
