ALL-ALASKA BIENNIAL 2018
The Anchorage Museum invites entries to the All-Alaska Biennial, featuring contemporary work by Alaska artists. This juried exhibition is a continuation of the museum’s All-Alaska Juried and Earth, Fire & Fibre exhibitions, which began more than 30 years ago to encourage the creation of new works by Alaska artists. The process is open to Alaska artists working in all media, including digital and new media.
Independent curator and writer Candice Hopkins will jury the exhibition. Based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Hopkins is a citizen of Carcross/Tagish First Nation in Yukon, Canada. She is a curator for the 2017 international contemporary art exhibition documenta 14 and has held curatorial positions at the Institute for American Indian Arts Museum of Contemporary Native Arts, National Gallery of Canada, Western Front Society, and Walter Phillips Gallery at Banff Centre. She received the Hnatyshyn Foundation Award for Curatorial Excellence in Contemporary Art in 2015.
