Bringing the physical and natural world to your fingertips

An art and history museum since its inception, the Anchorage Museum has added a third prong to its mission: science. The expanded museum features stimulating, hands-on exhibits focused on earth, life and physical science.

The museum’s science programs and classes may be viewed here.

Imaginarium Discovery Center
Alaska’s only hands-on science center allows people of all ages to explore physics and the natural world. The Imaginarium Discovery Center also includes a gallery designed for ages five and younger where families can explore art, history and science through play.

Thomas Planetarium
In this state-of-the-art planetarium, visitors can journey to the stars, taking trips through the solar system to exploring the night sky. The planetarium offers fascinating and enjoyable ways to learn about astronomy and space.

The Anchorage Museum is a partner in learning with the Anchorage Rotary Club’s Light Speed Planet Walk.

The Planet Walk is a scale model of our Solar system spanning 10.3 miles of walking trails that start in downtown Anchorage – a fun way to learn about our solar system. Learn more here.
