Let's make art at the museum!
The museum offers a variety of ways to learn about and create art. Children, teens, adults and families can explore drawing, painting, sculpture, photography and more. Museum members receive discounts on class fees.
Register for classes Jan. 1 thru Feb. 28.
Family Art
1 to 3 p.m. Sundays, Feb. 3 through April 27
Cost is $8 per family, payable at the front desk the day of class; free for museum members
Make art with your children Sunday afternoons at the museum. Children must be accompanied by an adult learning partner. Explore a variety of art materials, be inspired by art in the galleries, and create special projects to take home.
Cartooning
Ages 12 to 14
10 a.m. to noon Saturdays, Feb. 2 through 23
Cost is $50 member and $70 non-members.
Draw unique cartoon characters through caricature, perspective, shading and movement. All supplies are provided. Taught by comic artist Alec Fritz.
Arts of the Far North
February
Ages 8 to 12
1 to 3 p.m. Saturdays, Feb. 2 through 23
Cost is $50 members, $70 non-members and $20 drop-ins.
Artist Robin Murphy will inspire young artists with stories and artistic traditions of her Inupiat heritage. Children will make projects to take home. Class size is limited.

March
Ages 8 to 12
1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 1 through 29
$40 members, $60 non-members, $20 drop-in fee.
Explore the beauty and wisdom of traditional Yup'ik culture with artist Moses Wassilie. During each learning session in March students will focus on one particular project. Class size is limited.
March 1: Drum making
March 15: Traditional Yup'ik designs and drum decorating
March 22: Yup'ik masks
March 29: Drawing Alaskan animals and landscapes
Drawing
Ages 9 to 12
4 to 6 p.m. Thursdays, Feb. 7 through April 17
Cost is $120 members and $140 non-members.
Explore fundamental drawing techniques with published artist and writer Blanca Noriega Echeverri.

Payment must be received prior to the first class meeting. Payment can be made by credit card, cash (if paying cash you will get a receipt) or check (payable to Anchorage Museum Association) made out to the Anchorage Museum Association.

The museum is an accredited cultural institution offering year round programs for children and adults. Its Art Classes are exempt from the Municipality of Anchorage child care and educational center code (under AMC 16.55.050B.8.) which states that the museum has a "recreational program that children are allowed to attend voluntarily in which the program assumes no responsibility for care of the children, and in which all children are of school age.
