GOLD SHOP AND CAFE

Gold Shop
After touring Gold, browse the museum’s AU/Gold Store, which carries items that complement the exhibit. Gold jewelry offerings include pieces by contemporary U.S. artists, and pieces that reflect the world cultures represented in the exhibit. Alaskans with jewelry for sale are Rita Bishop from Fishing For Gold, Fairbanks, and Tlingit artists Nicholas Galanin and Gene Chilton.

Glittering gifts include an engravable Oscar statue, hand-blown glass polar bears, Brazilian “gold” grass basketry, and a specially minted silver-and-gold coin celebrating the exhibit. Children will love the chocolate gold coins and fun games and kits about prospecting.

Books, CDs and DVDs reflect the exhibit’s themes including geology, ancient artifacts and gold rush lifestyles, such as “Gold Rush Grub,” a collection of authentic recipes from that period.

As always, proceeds from museum sales help support Alaska artists and the museum’s exhibits and programs.

Gold Cafe
In the museum café, The Marx Bros. imagined a choice Gold menu for June and July. Golden dishes include Yukon gold potato-crusted Alaska halibut, roasted golden beet salad with goat cheese, and chocolate velvet cake dusted with gold powder.
