11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays in April
Meet Darth Vader and other “Star Wars” characters on
Stormtrooper Saturdays. Every Saturday in April from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.,
“Star Wars” characters will roam the museum. On any given Saturday,
museum visitors may encounter Darth Vader, stormtroopers, clonetroopers,
Jawas or Jedis. The characters are happy to answer questions and
pose for pictures, so bring your camera!
Other Worlds: The Search for Planets Beyond Our Solar System
7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11
Dr. Travis A. Rector, UAA professor of physics and astronomy, discusses
our ongoing search for planets around other stars. His talk addresses the
feasibility of Star Wars' planets and moons. Free.
Jet Fighters to Star Fighters
7 p.m. Thursday, March 11
F-15 pilot Lt. Col. Norm "Nahmy" Lagasse, executive director of the Alaska Aviation
Museum, offers a fighter pilot's perspective on the Star Wars fleet. Free.
Killer Asteroids: How We Know What We Know
7 p.m. Thursday, April 15
UAA astronomer Dr. Andy Puckett talks about asteroids, the risks associated with asteroid
impacts,
and how we might avoid them. He also reviews what the Star Wars movies say about asteroids and
planetary catastrophes, separating fact from fiction. Free.

In a Galaxy Far, Far Away
10 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday March 8-12
Campers spend spring break in a galaxy far, far away. In this daily sculpture workshop, students
ages 8 to 12 work with a variety of mixed media such as clay, foils, metal and wood. Taught by
art educator Linda Wetzel. $90 members/$110 non-members (includes admission to Star

Landspeeder Readers
4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursdays, Feb. 4-Feb. 25
A sci-fi reading and art club that is out-of-this-world. Children ages 5 to 8 are inspired by
stories
and the Star Wars exhibit to build starships, futuristic inventions and robots. Taught by artist and
early childhood educator Kelly Hebert. $70 members/$90 non-members (includes admission to

Ages 8 to 12 sculpt clay into Star Wars characters, robots, starships and landscapes. Taught by

Star Wars: Revenge of the Strip
10 a.m. to noon Saturdays February 6-27
In this four-week course, ages 13 to 17 learn the fundamentals of cartooning via the characters and settings of Star Wars.
Teens create a classic newspaper comic strip in the Star Wars style and start their own comic books. Taught by comic artist
Lee Post. $70 members/$90 non members (includes admission to Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination)
Nighttime Photography
6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays Jan. 20-March 24
Photographer Hal Gage helps photographers navigate the realms of low light and shadows. Students use time exposures
and light painting to make unique photographs. This class includes basic camera handling and principals, camera set up,
tips and techniques, and downtown field trips. Students must bring a tripod and a digital camera that can make exposures
of 15 seconds or more, or that has a bulb setting for timed exposures. $170 members, $190 non-members
