Sense of Place: Kobuk Valley National Park

Kobuk Valley National Park is known for sand dunes, caribou migration and as a research stand-in for Martian landscapes. What does it mean to be a tourist in a place like this? A visual artist, poet, curator, educator and filmmaker travel from the Anchorage Museum to the Kobuk and back, exploring the tourist experience and sense of place. They share a "home movie" about the trip, along with souvenirs, interviews and artistic responses to the experience. This event is presented in conjunction with the exhibition Arctic Desert. Free
