Travel into the past and discover some of Alaska's earliest inhabitants - the YUP'IK PEOPLE! Explore how the Yup'ik people survived and thrived by using only what nature provided. Have you ever heard of boots made out of grass? How about a raincoat sewn with seal guts or sunglasses carved from wood? The time traveler's itinerary includes a stop at the Alaska Native Heritage Center and hands on workshops at the Anchorage Museum's Yup'ik Science exhibit.

Payment must be received prior to the first class meeting. Payment can be made by credit card, cash (if paying cash you will get a receipt) or check (payable to Anchorage Museum Association) made out to the Anchorage Museum Association.

The museum is an accredited cultural institution offering year round programs for children and adults. Its Art Classes are exempt from the Municipality of Anchorage child care and educational center code (under AMC 16.55.050B.8.) which states that the museum has a "recreational program that children are allowed to attend voluntarily in which the program assumes no responsibility for care of the children, and in which all children are of school age.
