The Anchorage Museum library focuses on the history, ethnography, science and art of Alaska and the North. The collection includes more than 12,000 books, 300 rare books, 800 Alaska maps, auction catalogs, and periodicals about Alaska and art. The collection is non-circulating, but the public is welcome to do on-site research.

ALASKA ARTIST FILES
The museum gathers published information about past and present Alaska artists, maintaining paper files and a database of more than 12,300 names. The files include biographical information, newspaper clippings, exhibition announcements and exhibition catalogs.

SUBJECT VERTICAL FILES
These files include small-format publications related to Alaska, such as pamphlets, brochures and newspaper clippings.

MUSEUM EXCHANGE PROGRAM
The museum participates in a publications exchange program. Annually, the museum receives publications from more than 200 reciprocating libraries, galleries and museums around the world. Current issues of these newsletters and exhibition catalogs are available for research.
