In honor of Arctic Flight, Anchorage Museum members receive a $3 discount on adult general admission at the Alaska Aviation Museum through Aug. 11. Membership card required. One discount allowed per card.

Q: Is my membership good for a year?

A: Your membership is valid 12 months from the date of purchase. Your membership card will include the expiration date. Renewing your membership before the expiration date will extend your membership 12 months beyond the previous expiration date.

Q: Do I need my membership card to visit?

A: We encourage members to carry their membership cards to receive free admission and discounts at the Museum Shop and Muse restaurant. However, you also may show your ID at the front desk to receive your admission benefits.

Q: Can I buy or renew my membership online?

A: Yes. Click here to join or renew online. You will need to set up an online account with your e-mail address. Renewing members may need to contact the membership office to have an online account set up.

Q: What are my reciprocal museum membership benefits? How do I find a museum?

A: All current members receive free general admission to more than 300 science museums around the world through the Association of Science-Technology Centers Passport Program. You can search for museums to visit here. Members at the Sustaining level and higher also receive free admission to many art museums in North America through the North American Reciprocal Museums program. A list of participating museums is available here.

Q: Do I need to have my membership card to receive free admission to other museums? What if I forget it?

A: Yes. You must present your current Anchorage Museum member card to receive free admission at other museums offering reciprocal admission benefits. If you don’t have your card, you will need to pay admission.

Q: What do I do if lose my membership card?

A: You may request a new member card at the Anchorage Museum admission desk or call the membership office at (907) 929-9228. There is a $5 replacement fee, and your new card will be mailed to you within two weeks of your request.

Q: How many cards do I get? When will I receive them?

A: You will receive a card for each adult member of your household listed on your membership application. Q: How do I purchase a gift membership?

A: You may purchase a gift membership at the front desk or you may download our gift membership form here and submit it by mail or fax.

Q: Can I lend my card to a friend?

A: Membership benefits are non-transferrable and available only for yourself and members of your immediate family or household. Other guests or friends are subject to regular admission prices.

Q: How many children are included in my family membership?

A: All of the children or grandchildren in your own immediate family or your household receive general admission benefits with your Family level membership.

Q: Can I bring guests with me to museum? Do they receive a discount?

A: You are welcome to bring guests with you to the museum. However, all guests (adults and children) who do not have a guest pass for general admission are subject to regular admission prices. Members who join or renew at the Sustaining level or higher receive guest passes to share with friends.

Q: Do I have to pay the gate fee for special exhibitions?

A: Whenever possible, we offer discounted or free gate fees to members. For some premium exhibitions an extra ticket is required.

Q: How will I find out about member special events?

A: Information about special events is included in our newsletter, as well as by e-mail through our monthly e-newsletter. Some events will include a special invitation sent to you by mail or e-mail. Please make sure we have your current e-mail address and mailing address on file. Contact the museum membership office at 907-929-9228 or membership@anchoragemuseum.org with any contact information changes.

Q: Can I use my membership card for a school visit?

A: No. Fees for school visits cover the costs of special presentations and tours not covered by membership dues.

Q: Do members receive special parking privileges?

A: There are several parking options available to all museum visitors. Information about parking can be found here.

Q: Are grandchildren covered by a Family membership?

A: The Family level membership includes benefits for all adults in the same household and their own children or grandchildren (ages 3 to 18).

Q: Do I have to be present for someone to use the guest passes that come with my membership?

A: No, you do not have to be present for a guest to use the guest passes you receive if you join or renew at the Sustaining level or higher.

Q: I'm 66 and my wife is 60. Which membership should I purchase?

A: The Senior Family level. Only one member needs be 65 years old to qualify for the discounted fee.

Q: Are children admitted free to the museum?

A: Children ages 2 and younger are admitted free. Admission for ages 3 to 12 is $7 and for older students is $9.

Q: Does my membership include admission to the Imaginarium Discovery Center?

A: General admission to the museum is included on all membership levels, which includes access to the Imaginarium Discovery Center. Tickets for planetarium shows are discounted for members.

Q: Is my membership tax deductible?

A: Yes. Individual and Family level memberships are tax deductible in full. Sustaining level memberships are tax deductible up to $100, Contributing level up to $200, Benefactor up to $400 and Sponsor level up to $850. Our tax ID number is 92-6009317.

Q: How can I make a donation to the museum?

A: Annual gifts at every level make a difference. Admissions, city support and other earned revenue covers only 80 percent of annual operations and programs. Contributed revenue makes up the balance. Make a gift online here or contact our annual giving manager at (907) 929-9226.
