Temporary Visitor Services Assistants
The Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center has immediate need for Temporary (90 days beginning January 25, 2010), Part-Time Visitor Services Assistants.
Under general supervision of the Visitor Services Specialist, this position performs cashier duties and provides information to visitors of the Museum. Incumbents work variable scheduled hours conforming to the seasonal hours of the facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure that each Museum visitor receives outstanding customer service by providing a friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every visitor, answering questions, maintaining outstanding standards, and thorough exhibit knowledge along with all other components of customer service.
Temporary Sales Associate
The
Under general supervision of the Shop Manager, this position has the responsibility to be active in all tasks associated with sales and customer service in the Anchorage Museum Shop to include stocking of merchandise and replenishing of displays; oversee inventory levels and will assist with special projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Acute awareness to the needs of visitors in the

Oversees sales station when a Shop Volunteer is unavailable.

Stocks and replenishes merchandize in displays throughout the day.

Maintains inventory reports on selected departments and makes recommendations for future orders.
·
Provides assistance to Shop Volunteers in the operation of the computerized sales system and with general Shop information.

Responsible for all aspects of Opening and Closing procedures on the point-of-sale system and in the Shop.

Assists on special projects to include Art Potpourri and Crafts Weekend
·
Keeps Shop Staff up-to-date on customer concerns and needs.
Knowledge/Skills/Qualifications:

Animal Care/Exhibits Technician
The
Under the general direction of the Exhibits Director, the Animal Care/Exhibits Technician provides oversight of the Imaginarium Discovery Center’s (IDC) live animal program, including daily care and maintenance, implementation of policies and procedures, training staff and volunteers, assisting with creating and maintaining live animal exhibits and interpreting the live animals to visitors. Provide routine maintenance and cleaning of marine mechanical room. Position requires flexible work schedule, and occasional weekend shifts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintains and complies with the State of Alaska Dept. of Fish and Game Fish Resource permit.
·
Oversee the care and maintenance of the
·
Responsible for the daily care of all live animals, including feeding, cleaning, healthcare, handling, and monitoring and maintaining an adequate environment. This will include performing or supervising the majority of these tasks on scheduled work days and leaving detailed information for these tasks to be performed in your absence.
·
Responsible for the monitoring, ordering, and acquiring of all live animal food and supplies.
·
Coordinate the implementation of policies and procedures relating to the live animal program; make recommendations for changes or additions to existing procedures, communicate changes or additions to all necessary staff, and document/update the written policies and procedures as needed.
·
Participate in any live animal training for staff and volunteers.
·
Regularly communicate with supervisor to discuss live animal needs, volunteer training status, and to maintain a mutual understanding of policies and procedures regarding live animals.
Qualifications:
·
High School diploma or equivalent required.
·
BS in Biology or a related science preferred.
·
Proven work experience with marine life collection, care and husbandry required.
·
Experience with animal collection & care, specifically reptiles and
·
Knowledge of AZA and AAM animal care standards preferred.
·
Experience working with science laboratory chemicals preferred.
